Daim means “ continuously, forever, constant, unending” in Turkish. The word has been chosen as a hidden oxymoron, as nothing is forever or unending in the natural world, let alone architectural practice. But the naming gives away a secret desire to hold on to some key features of our line of work; namely order, identity, sensibility, sustainability, respect for all living things, and a certain joy that can only be derived from the design. Also, the name dares its opposite into the wordplay, because opposites exist through life as a couple. In our view, although change is the only constant in the universe, the human mind tries desperately to cling to a “constant” or “an anchor” to ease itself, as “known” and/or “controlled” environments and situations give us great comfort. Architecture comes into play right at this moment. Not only is architecture a weapon that can be used to control our environment, but correctly used, it gives us identity, order, and joy.

At Daim Architecture, we undertake architectural, interior architectural, and landscaping design. We believe in a holistic approach to design, therefore want to be included in all aspects of design all the time, all the way. We define ourselves to be the “most advanced stage amateurs” of our profession, as utmost professionalism leaves no room for growth. We dedicate ourselves to the work at hand fully, going to extreme lengths to direct our design to be unique to the Employer. We never employ standard design approaches and try to diversify our solutions and creations according to the current specific “problem”. In terms of the service provided to the “Employer”s, we might call ourselves a boutique design practice, because we commit ourselves fully to the undertaken work and supply our employers with a finite finished product at every scale and/or size.
Architectural Design Principles
in Detail
Daim believes that architectural practice and more generally the act of designing must be the result of a harmonious and consistent worldview. In this sense, a structure should result from the shared vision and sequence, starting with its geographical location to the smallest details of design. Recognizing problems peculiar to any case and finding their solutions define the Company’s main design principle.
In the modern world, there is a need for a well-coordinated, multi-disciplinary collaboration in order to reach the desired result. Designing the project, without compromising its structural quality, requires a rigorous effort to combine the unique work of all the participants in the process. Our team evaluates different variants of architectural design, considering their components and innovative aspects. In participating in projects, DAIM always seeks to develop a balance between the designed task and its materialization, by means of enhancing the coordination and communication of all specialists.
Landscape Design Principles in Detail
Daim embraces hardscaping as a natural extension of architectural design, as architects we have to agree with the sites we built on, we handle and manipulate the ground. As we do that, we have to solve the problems that come with the site. The car parks, sideways, walking routes, and the nearby paved surfaces of the building are thought of at architectural schools as must-solve parts of any design. As such, we undertake hardscaping solutions as an annex of the building. To tie things up, for softscaping we enlist landscape designers.
Interior Design Principles
in Detail
As an extension of the architectural design, if we are able to start to design process from the very end, we incorporate all grand architectural principles into the interior design. It is much easier to control an interior that we created by playing with mass and light, rather than one handed to us by someone else. As it occurs, we are constantly battling with already existing spaces, which also gives us room for different but limited solutions for as long as some givens in an equation are constant the possibilities narrow down automatically. Even on that narrow path, we try our best to solve the problems and create exclusively characteristic designs. In parallel to our architectural work, the design follows the rules of rationality. Meaning, that our choices and designs, should be applied to real work, should follow a budget, and should to the most of our ability sustainable.
